Privacy policy
What we collect through this website and the conversations that start here, why, who sees it, and how to have it changed or deleted.
Who we are
Maison Lyte ("we", "us") is a creator management agency for outdoors, off-grid and tech creators, based in Quebec, Canada.
We follow Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). When we work with people in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we also follow the GDPR for their information.
Our privacy officer is responsible for how we handle personal information. To reach them, or to speak with one of our representatives about your information, email hello@maisonlyte.com.
What we collect
When you fill in our form
Everyone: your name, email, company or channel, whether you are a brand or a creator, how you heard about us and your message.
Brands: your budget range and any creator you have in mind. Creators: your audience size, main platform and whether you have a manager today.
When we look at your channels
If you are a creator who contacts us, we look at your public profiles and public numbers to understand your audience. We only use what anyone can see.
When we work together
Your emails with us, and for creators we represent: contract, payment and tax details, which are covered by your agreement with us.
When you browse
The basic records our web host keeps for every visit, such as IP address, the page you opened, your browser and the time (see below).
Why we use it
- To answer your message and talk about working together.
- To decide whether a creator is a fit, and to match creators with brands.
- To run campaigns, contracts and payments once we work together.
- To see which pages are read and which buttons are used, so we can improve the site.
- To keep the site and our inbox safe from spam and abuse.
- To keep the records the law asks of us, such as tax and accounting records.
We only use your information for these purposes, or for a new one we ask your permission for first. For people in the EU or UK, the legal basis is your consent, a step you asked for before a contract, the contract itself, our legitimate interest in running the business, or a legal duty.
Analytics and cookies
Our web host, Hostinger, keeps standard records of each visit to run the site safely, and shows us totals from them: how many people visited, which pages they read and roughly where they came from. We use these totals to improve the site. We do not use them to find out who you are.
The site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we will ask you first with a cookie banner and update this page.
Who we share it with
- If you are a creator: when we suggest you to a brand, we share what the brand needs to judge the fit, such as your channel, audience numbers and rates. We only do this after you agree to that brand.
- If you are a brand: when we bring your campaign to a creator, we share what the creator needs to decide whether to take it, such as the product, the brief, the dates and the budget.
- The companies that run our website and email: Hostinger hosts this website and its contact form, and Google Workspace runs our email. They store information for us and are not allowed to use it for anything else.
- Our accountant and lawyers, and authorities where the law requires it.
- A buyer of the business, if that ever happens, on the same terms as this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Where it is stored
Hostinger and Google may store information on servers outside Quebec and outside Canada, for example in the United States or Europe, where it can be subject to local laws. Before we use a service that stores information outside Quebec, we check that it protects that information to the same standard we do.
How long we keep it
- Form messages from people we do not go on to work with: up to 24 months after our last contact.
- Creators and brands we work with: for as long as we work together, then as long as tax and legal records require (usually 6 years in Canada).
- Analytics: counts only, with nothing that identifies you.
How we protect it
The site uses an encrypted connection, only the people who need your information can see it, and our accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-step sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach could cause you real harm, we will tell you and report it as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and send you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it when we no longer need it;
- stop using it for a purpose, or withdraw a consent you gave.
Email hello@maisonlyte.com. We answer within 30 days and it is free. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
Our emails
We only email you about the conversation you started, the work we do together, or with a clear business reason, as Canada's anti-spam law allows. Replies and ongoing work come from @maisonlyte.com addresses. First outreach to creators and brands comes from separate domains we own for that purpose, so our main address stays reserved for the people we already work with. Every message says it is from Maison Lyte, and anyone who asks not to be contacted is removed right away. Our email policy explains how we reach out to creators and brands. Not sure an email is really from us? Forward it to hello@maisonlyte.com and we will tell you.
Creators under 18
This site is meant for adults. If you are a creator under 18, a parent or guardian needs to contact us for you, and any agreement is made with them.
Questions and complaints
Tell us first at hello@maisonlyte.com and we will try to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when what we do changes or the law does, and change the date at the top. If a change affects information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
